Reading is one of the ways to understand the teachings of Buddhism and establish a correct view, which supplements and guides Chan practice. Our book club offers opportunities to read, discuss, learn, and integrate the teachings of Buddhism and Chan into daily life. It is also a way to build community. Everyone has an opportunity to facilitate the reading discussions. Please click on the link below for our recommended reading list.
The text chosen for our upcoming book club meetings this year is the Vimalakīrti Sūtra . Guo Gu will be giving a talk on the sūtra on Monday, August 03. He will highlight the central teachings on this sūtra as points of discussion for the book club meetings. The book club itself requires registration. If you are interested in joining, please email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org. There’s no fee but we need a head count to figure out how to run the discussion sessions. It will be on September 11, 18, 25; October 9, 16, 23, 30. Seven sessions in total. We’re not too technologically savvy, but we would like to offer live skype participation (if possible).
